CREST, the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats, is a national hub for understanding, countering and mitigating security threats. Receiving the majority of its funding from the UK’s security and intelligence agencies, CREST brings together the UK’s foremost expertise in understanding the psychological and social drivers of security threats, the skills and technologies that enable their effective investigation, and the protective security measures that help counter them in the first place.Based at Lancaster University and partnered by the Universities of Bath, Birmingham, Cranfield, Portsmouth and the West of England, CREST’s research draws on significant stakeholder and international researcher engagement. It operationalises this research through an innovative range of toolkits, expert briefs, training aids and updates on the latest academic research on security threats through its quarterly magazine CREST Security Review.
