The Counter-Drones Unit sits within the Home Office, and is the policy team responsible for domestic drone security policy.
In 2019 the Home Office published The Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Strategy, setting out the Government’s plan to mitigate malicious and criminal use of drones. A refreshed strategy to outline the government’s approach over the next three to five years, titled the Drone Security Strategy, will be published in 2024.
The National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) Counter Drone Unit Ensures the safe and responsible use of the UK airspace by drones, working in partnership with the Home Office Counter Drone Unit
The NPCC Counter Drone Team remit covers the malicious and criminal use of drones across all policing disciplines; counter terrorism, serious and organised crime, public order and frontline policing.
