National Monitoring

Stand D148

Established in 1976, National Monitoring leads the way in safeguarding people and property. For over 40 years, we have been a trusted partner to law enforcement, government and major corporations.

In 2000, National Monitoring was awarded the National Framework for the provision and monitoring of temporary alarms available to all UK Police Forces. We build, service and monitor our own alarms with the majority being installed in response to high-risk domestic abuse incidents. Our outstanding services have ensured we have retained this contract for over 20 years.

We have consistently collaborated with the Police to protect vulnerable individuals in their own homes whilst continuously enhancing our alarm systems which includes the development of evidential audio alarms.

Evidential audio alarms capture essential audio in the critical moments leading up to and during an incident. We worked in partnership with Chief Inspector Will Hodgkinson, the MET Police and University of Cambridge to create Operation Project which tested our audio alarm against traditional alarm systems.

During Operation Protect, it was found that evidential audio provided corroboration of alleged events and prompted early guilty pleas from suspects. Audio played in interviews prompted a number of very successful changes in pleas being offered. This saved valuable police time. During Operation Protect, arrest rates increased by 100% and there was a 57% increase in charges.

It was also found that prosecution of a suspect could continue regardless of whether or not the victim attends court. This can of course reduce the negative impact of the situation for victims and the pressure to testify.

These innovative evidential audio temporary alarms are now being utilised by police forces across the United Kingdom, giving officers access to crucial audio recorded both before and during incidents. The captured evidence includes examples of assault, threats and abuse, controlling and coercive behaviour, as well as breaches of bail conditions and domestic violence protection notices.

This new technology, named QR Connect will also be available to non-police organisations to protect their customers under lone worker accreditation.

National Monitoring is ECHO compatible.
