FoSS – University of York

Based in the University of York’s Language and Linguistic Science Department, FoSS is a group of academics and forensic practitioners with expertise in speech and audio analysis. With an established record of producing world-leading research, FoSS is bridging the gap between theory and practice. Our research covers a wide range of issues in phonetics, sociolinguistics, forensic speech science and speech technology. Through FoSS we are developing CPD programmes, providing consultancy, and undertaking collaborative research projects, to improve and advance speech science and the use of technology across law enforcement.
