Opportunity to participate in the JSaRC Immersive Feature at Security & Policing 2023

Immersive-Experience

The Expression of Interest is now closed for the 2023 event.

For Security & Policing 2023, the Joint Security & Resilience Centre (JSaRC) is looking to collaborate to create a live immersive experience.

The immersive experience is an interactive demonstration of various skills and technologies from the security sector that provides participants with a hands-on and pressurised view of a security problem.

The immersive experience will be based on the timed escape room model which has progressive stations with a single solution – as opposed to full room discovery escape rooms.

The challenge

The challenge focuses on a team being required to successfully navigate several stations – each showcasing different security skills that can be employed as part of an effort to stop a terrorist incident. Participants will have the opportunity to understand a range of skills, turn their hand to specific tasks, beat the clock and compete against other delegates.

How to get involved – the opportunity

This exciting immersive feature will present key security challenges, so we are seeking to include products and services that are market, or near market ready, to solve security challenges and which can be interacted with by a range of participants.

JSaRC is looking to work with industry and academia who are interested in creating new and engaging content for the experience. This will likely include video content, which we would work with you to develop. It may also incorporate demonstration resources already used by participant companies.

Security and Policing attracts ministers, senior civil servants, and international delegations. This immersive experience is an incredible way to demonstrate how innovation and partnership connect to ensure a safe and prosperous future in the UK.

We are seeking applications from organisations that can contribute content and experience on  areas such as:

Station 1: Intelligence Data Analysis – Data and Identity Challenge

In this station, participants will be presented with multiple dummy profiles of potential suspects with a variety of information relating to biography and travel. Participants must identify the key information in these profiles linked to their initial intelligence briefing to complete this task. Each profile will contain a unique data point which, when correctly selected, will allow the participants to proceed to the next station.

We are looking to include physical equipment or video content relating to the following:

  • Biometric content that rotates through numerous fingerprints and sets the scene for the participants.
  • Facial recognition content that rotates through numerous individuals faces and sets the scene for the participants.
  • Touch screen devices to allow participants to interact directly with the key information data.
  • Security cameras/devices to record participants interacting with tasks.

Station 2: Physical Evidence Investigation – Bag Search

In this station, participants will be presented with numerous padlocked bags in a Border environment. They will need to choose a bag, work out the code of the padlock and conduct a bag search. Inside the bags there will be multiple items including clues to assist them onto the next station.

We are looking to include physical equipment or video content relating to the following:

  • Hand-held metal detectors for participants to use while searching the bags.
  • Portable X-Ray systems for participants to use while searching the bags.
  • Padlocks to be placed on each target bag.
  • Assorted containers such as large bags / suitcases, freight boxes to be displayed and to be filled with items for participants to search.
  • Novel or standard personal protective equipment, such as gloves/masks, for participants to use throughout the bag search.

Station 3: Evidence Investigation – Identify Fake Documents

In this station, participants will examine a range of identity documents. They will need to analyse the documents, using devises and techniques to confirm any correct or incorrect information. Information gathered from this station will be of use in the following stations.

We are looking to include physical equipment or video content relating to the following:

  • Forensic document examination equipment, such as forensic magnifiers and precision measurement, for participants to use while investigating the documents.
  • UVA / UVC lighting for participants to use while investigating the documents.

Station 4: Geolocation / Map Tracking Analysis – Location Tracker

In this station, participants will be presented with several locations on a touch screen showing key information obtained from previous stations. Participants will be able to learn more about precise locations by touching on pinpoints. The touch screen will present key data that can be interacted with. Participants must correctly identify key locations to move on to the next station.

We are looking to include physical equipment or video content relating to the following:

  • Touch screen devices to allow participants to interact directly with the key information data.
  • 3D modelling or similar imagery to act as a replica of a region.
  • Location tagging for participants to examine while gathering evidence.
  • GPS tracking software for participants to examine while gathering evidence.
  • Asset tracking for participants to examine while gathering evidence.
  • Automatic number plate recognition systems for participants to examine while gathering evidence.

Station 5: Intelligence Data Investigation – Raid

In this station, participants will be expected to choose a target location for surveillance. To do so, they will watch a pre-recorded intelligence briefing video, choosing one of four videos based on the footage available and clues from previous stations. If a raid is chosen on the correct property, participants will stop the major terrorist incident and win the escape room. Failure will incur time penalties.

We are looking to include physical equipment or video content relating to the following:

  • Data insight and analytics for participants to examine while gathering evidence.
  • Emergency connection systems with police systems for participants to use or hear while deciding which location to raid.
  • Body worn footage for participants to watch ahead of choosing which location to raid.
  • Surveillance products, such as covert audio & video cameras to switch on when participants select a video for the raid. Footage to be displayed onto screens outside of the immersive.
