The Police Digital Service (PDS) are a team of experts in commercial services, technical assurance, data, digital transformation and innovation, with unique experience in policing and national programme delivery.
The PDS is the delivery vehicle for the National Policing Digital Strategy, which we co-authored with the National Police Technology Council and launched at our Police Digital Summit in 2020. Our aim is to harness the power of digital, data and technology to help UK policing protect the communities it serves.
We want to enable policing workforce to fully exploit data and technology, improve decision-making, strengthen operational effectiveness, drive value for money and most importantly better safeguard and protect the public.
Together with our public and private sector colleagues, we are driving several ‘in-flight’ national programmes. We have already completed six national programmes, brought new areas of business online and successfully delivered, within budget, the majority of the milestones for the grant funded programmes we are managing. We are also proud of our work in enabling policing organisations to cost-effectively secure large-scale commercial opportunities and purchase and deploy technology. Our efforts resulted in £27 million in cashable and cost avoidance savings back into policing (Home Office verified).
