Since the development of the first rope ascenders and descenders, which laid the foundation for rope progression, Petzl has been at the forefront of change and the emergence of new techniques. Headlamp lighting, belaying, rescue, ice climbing, glacier travel… In these and other fields, Petzl's innovations have allowed equipment to evolve and practices to be reinvented. As proof of this dynamic activity, over 700 patents have been registered since 1970.
