The Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC) is a multidisciplinary, security-focused research centre. CENTRIC’s vision is to deliver excellence in applied research in security and policing in collaboration with academic, law enforcement, government, and industry partners. CENTRIC aims to blend innovative research with technological capabilities informed by the operational reality of the modern security environment.

Currently, CENTRIC has several flagship activities. Security Communications and Analysis Network (SCAAN) is a staff digital security and situational awareness solution deployed to several UN agencies. Community Response provides a customisable data capture and informed consent application that operates in low connectivity environments. Accountability Principles for AI (AP4AI) supports security stakeholders in deploying AI solutions in an accountable manner while the 3PO project tackles the threat to police personnel from online harms. CENTRIC also has an extensive serious games portfolio that extends from VR training simulations for firearms to gamified online learning for cryptocurrency investigators.
